Avenir Font family style is designed by a professional designer Adrian Frutiger in 1988. The avenir font family is one of the most first choice for many designer. As the name suggests, the family takes inspiration from the geometric style of sans serif typeface developed in the 1920s that took the circle as a basis, such as Erbar and Futura.
He said he felt an obligation to design a linear sans in the tradition of Erbar and Futura but to also make use of the experience and stylistic developments of the twentieth century. Frutiger intended Avenir to be a more organic interpretation of the geometric style, more even in color and suitable for extended text, with details recalling more traditional typefaces such as the two-storey ‘a’ and ‘t’ with a curl at the bottom.
